Mosthigh thread count sheets are of ELS cotton, because a long fiber is needed to provide a very thin but strong, yarn. Among the ELS cotton is Pima, Supima and Egyptian cotton. Pima cotton is a generic label for all ELS cotton in each country by a specific type of long-staple cotton grown given. Long staple cottons are more expensive than the commonly available cottons, for they are synonymous with quality and have a higher thread count on. The quality and feel of a leaf depends on the fiber, the fabrics are woven, and the number of threads per inch. The higher the number of threads, the softer and more durable the sheet. Even if it does not say 100%, do not go away 100% cotton.

Satin is usually a cotton fabric that has a feel like silk. It is often in bed linen and other textiles can be found everywherethe world. Satin is usually 100% cotton woven, even if they sometimes made of rayon. Like percale, sateen method was woven in which the leaf. The fabric gives the sheet its soft satin, satin-like atmosphere. The material is lustrious feel and smooth. Only carded or combed yarns used. Cotton is screened from impurities. The best quality is mercerized Satin to give a higher gloss. Mercerized cotton was treated with sodium hydroxide to shrink andincrease its luster and affinity for dye. It is also makes it more mildew resistant and stronger. Some satin sheets are only calendared to produce the sheen. This is when the fabric is pressed between two rolling pins to give it a shiny appearance. This is less high-quality satin. The gloss will eventually fade away with a few washes. This is not a real satin. Original Satin can be bleached, dyed or printered.

3 – Thread Count Information

Thread count(TC) refers to the number of fibers together in a tissue-square-inch fabric. It can be between 80 to 1200 The higher the number of threads, the finer threads, the desirable requires a smooth and soft tissue. However finer threads mean the threads a little more delicate, so one must use proper care when washing. Another important criteria is ply. Ply refers to the number of single fibers twisted together before weaving it into a fabric. By turning two fibers together, the threadcount can be doubled. Some 1000tc sets of sheets are actually 330TC 3-ply or 250TC 4-fold. The higher the layer, the heavier and thicker the plate, and the greater chance of the fabric pilling (beads). The highest thread count that can be woven in a single layer is 500TC. All 1000tc sheets are at least 2-ply. In summary, softness, if desired, a high thread count and lower layers required but at higher cost. When a higher count, high thread count is preferred with a high altitude (3-4)required.
